MC Dan Boner (Director of the ETSU Bluegrass, Old Time, and Country Music Studies Program) introduces Papa Joe Smiddy- a mountain roots music legend and former Chancellor of University Of Virginia at Wise. Papa Joe is joined here with his son, Dr. Joseph Smiddy, and the other folks comprising Reedy Creek Band: Crystal Shipley (fiddle), Sam Mallory (mandolin), and Randy Wise (bass).
Papa Joe Smiddy sings one of his traditional favorites "Going Down That Road Feeling Bad". This tune was my Dad's favorite to play on his fiddle when I was a child (RIP- ADW 1917-2004).
