President Obama has said that Medicare will be bankrupt within 8 years. Democrats say that Medicare is more efficient than private insurance plans because the government only has to deal with a 2% overhead.
How does a system like Medicare go bankrupt if it only has a 2% overhead? Efficient systems should not be tanking. Is this problem a direct result of the reduction of people being born due to contraception and abortion?

Americans are looking on with great concern as we see the number of people born being reduced by contraception and abortion. At the same time as the birth rate is being reduced, grand advancements in medicine are causing people to live longer. Since people are living longer, they will be drawing social security longer. Since there are fewer people being born who will contribute to government programs, how do we sustain things like social security?

With 2011 fast approaching (Baby boomers will begin retiring), will any health care system be able to sustain the demographic change as more people will be retiring from the work force than are entering it? More people will be drawing benefits than there will be contributing?
Has contraception and abortion made a "public option" completely unsustainable and can insurance companies in the private sector even pull out of this demographic nose dive?
