@Kuntagini. Are you saying bcos Igbos influenced the Okrika/Bonny dialect and culture so the Okrikans/Bonnys are Igbo? So it means Southern Nigerians are Britons and Nigerian Muslims are Arabs? No people and culture is an island, there are influences all over, but it does not matter. What does is the predominant culture and language of the people. Even with advent of King Jaja of Opobo, the Ibanis- Bonny and Opobo people are Ijaw people that have been influenced by Igbo culture.
@kuntagini Okrika means You are all not different and it is the same in my language... Okrigha which is pronounced as Okri-ha and this distortion was caused by non indigenes among us that is now generally used . The Okrika way of saying it is the proper way where the G is pronounced as K making Okrigha becoming Okrika.
@kuntagini . LOL.. This guy is not even ashame ? Okrika means you are all not different and WAKIRIKA means we are not different . We are one Ijaw people...
@Killayut Okrika will never be oure ijaw, get it right. What does Amayanabo mean in your language?Lets not start with tradition. There is no way igbo can be counted out in a hybrid people of igbo mixture.Go learn Ngwa and Ikwere tradition then come back and each ur own crap.Like i said before, stop trying to claim a people that are not yours.
@kuntagini The Okrika dialect is pure Ijaw and 99% Kalabari and Ibani dialect of the Ijaw language group in vocabulary. There are borrowed Igbo words like Okpara and ofcourse the Okrika /Kalabari /Ibani original word for Okpara is TARIBO. A king is Amayanabo and not Obi or Eze, There is no Igbo tradition in Okrika and every Okrika Tradition is the same in Kalabari and Ibani from marriage ( IRIA ) to funeral to market to celebration ( ALALI )
