----- FULL TRANSCRIPT: ----- I'm Anna Bramwell-Dicks. I worked over the summer to develop the Enterprise module.
What did you learn? I think that Ive learnt a lot through the development of the module. Ive done modules previously in accounting and finance and whilst that was interesting as stand-alone, it was useful to learn about how to apply the accounting and finance techniques in a broader context, to a specific technology or idea.
What did you find difficult about the project? One of the hard things about developing the module was the wealth of information and trying to work out what was relevant and what was superfluous.
What drove you to give up your summer? I liked the idea of doing research for a job, so that I would be thinking and being doing something worthwhile and useful.
Did it feel strange to be both a student and a developer? It wasnt weird taking the module because it was assessed on the application of the knowledge, rather than the knowledge itself. It was applying the techniques that were provided in the notes in a real life situation rather than just regurgitating it. It was a bit strange, but I dont think I had any significant advantage over the other people who took the course!
Which part did you find most interesting/gain most from? I really liked the marketing side and investigating potential markets for the product, and also brainstorming ideas of what the product can be used for.
What did your peers think of the module? I think other students felt that it was a lot of work for the credits, but I think they found it rewarding at the same time and a useful process to have gone through. Going through the real world process is useful if you think youll ever want to start a business. Thats one of the reasons I wanted to do it; I now have hands-on experience of what I need to get a business plan together.
