Thank you for using side of the helmet view. I hate it when all you can see is the visor of the helmet and the tip of the front fender. Takes away so much action. I see the makings of a great video here!

We're not in a a race, we're play riding. We aren't all the same speed, so it would have been a boring video if the cameraman was hauling. All you'd see is empty track. Swapping back and forth is way more fun to watch than dirt flying by. Even the Helmet cam footage from a top pro when they do a lap around the track for national events looks kinda boring and doesn't provide a real sense of speed when there are no other riders in it.

the track looks like it gets hard packed. is that true? do they do a good job grooming it>

It does get hard packed pretty quickly. They do a good job of maintaining it and there are usually several line options in the morning, but after noon it blue grooves and you generally have one line as other lines get dusty and loose. Fun Track for sure though.
