@Aron1234aron I think the form over Yeats career would suggest that the Melbourne cup was a bad day for Yeats. What this horse went on to achieve is true fairytale stuff.

Brilliant winning 4 in a row but could not match it with the Japanese horses in the Melbourne Cup in '06

amazing horse yeats in his younger days he was a 1 time hot favourite for the derby! he in my opinion is the only modern day stayer who could have beaten the mighty ardross at ascot.

@MrNativeDancer very similar to denman in the respect he doesnt have a turn off foot but just gradually bulds up to speed and can just mantain that speed for a longer distance

@liamobrien06 Totally agree, I dont know if you have ever noticed this with Yeates, but he only starts to get going when all the other horses have totally had enough. He litterally runs them into the ground. He is such a fantastic horse in that way. He makes it look like he could run all day like that. The further he goes the better he goes. I love these stayers who stay around for years! He runs them off their feet

I love the Staying Races!!! Why are they so few of them! These staying races have to be the best races on the flat ever! So its a shame there are not more of them. It is the Stayers that are the true Champions! Thats not to take anything away from the sprinters though. Yeates has to be one the Best STAYERS EVER! WHAT A HORSE!!
