After we watched his movie "The Honor of Dongfang Xu", Master Li spoke to a group of us at the Academy of Oriental Medicine at Austin about his transition from being a renowned Martial Arts coach (coach of Jet Li) to healing arts (Qigong) teacher.

  • I would say it's not true. What Baird refers to is exactly a martial ART, if you just want to learn to harm others to "survive" it is not an art, but just crude violence that will only make you more angry and attract more trouble. The art lies in overcoming your fear and anger and transform something destructive into something beautiful that will help you to become a stronger and more peaceful person. In the long run, I believe it is these persons that "survives".

  • While I do agree with much that was said here I would love to refer you to a quote by Jaison Baird

    "Is Your martial art made to build character, improve health, instill discipline, or engage in a fair fight? That is not a martial art, it is a civilized sport and will not help you survive."
