@softsummernights he can already see that from heaven and from within our hearts. The CRUCIFIX is the image of the source of our salvation. The act being performed on the cross is our salvation being given to us. It is not dumb, it is holy.

Job calls himself father to poor - Job 29:16. God declares 2 give a fatherly role to Eliakim - IS. 22:20-21. Elisha cries, "My father!" to Elijah - 2Kgs 2:12. Stephen refers to "our father Abraham" - Acts 7:2. Paul speaks of "our father Isaac." - Romans 9:10. Christ is using hyperbole 2 show scribes & Pharisees how sinful & proud they were 4 not looking humbly to God as the source of authority , fatherhood, teaching, & instead setting themselves up as authorities, father figures & teachers
