@bjharm1 Your guess is right. I'm not sure but he must have applied for that himself. It is compulsory for Korean men to go to the army within certain age but when to go is their decision. It is possible he was close to the limited age.

@bjharm1 The cut off is age 30 I think, the guy always looked old but I hardly think he suppose to be 30 years old.

I think army call up is like a lotto, 20 year to 30 you can get your call up at any time between. But you can delay doing service with a good enough reason until the cut off at 30, thus why so many male stars are 30 when they do their army time, like Rain has to go in November I think it is.
