One of the main acquisitions against Islam and the Prophet Muhammad (p.b.u.h) is that Islam allows slavery and enslavement. Missionaries often use this to defame Islam ... showing it as a cruel and oppressive religion which denies basic human rights.

This video intends to answer such concerns with proof and citations from the Quran and authentic Hadith.

It is true that Islam did not outright "ban" slavery ... but that was because it was to deeply rooted to be combated in that way. Instead islam implemented a long-run strategy which eventually led to the eradication of slavery.

The structure of this strategy was as follows:

- Limiting the sources of enslavement

- Showing a general dislike for slavery

- Making it a great virtue and a means of recompensation of sins to "free" slaves

- treating slaves with extreme kindness ... making them more like brothers rather than servants.

- Allowing slaves to "demand" their freedom and commanding muslims to comply if they asked.

  • I respect the beautiful versus from the Koran which were in your video, but as with some of the beautiful versus from the Bible, it does not mean that people had to follow them. I lived in East Africa, and if you have been to Zanzibar, you then know the brutality and the extensiveness of the slave trade as practiced by the Arabs.....I say Arabs and not "Muslims", as doing so implies that the religion itself was responsible for the enslavement of Africans which would be incorrect...

  • @robinjfr : Yup people might not follow their religion ... but that isn't the fault of the religion.

The point of this video isn't to defend arabs or even muslims ... its to counter the idea spread by some missinonaries, that Islam (the religion) allows or even encourages the vices that people do.

  • comment pending approval ? dont ike the truth ?

  • @lesterclaypool1: Its not my fault if you haven't even watched the video ... nor read the additional annotations.

The point was never that "Islam immediately and absolutely eradicated the word 'slavery'. " The point was that Islam eradicated the very foundation and core of slavery ... it granted equality to slaves, encouraged people to buy slaves just to free them, and gave slaves the right 'demand' freedom at will (thats in the Koran)

    I like truth ... I don't like idiots who can't read ;)

  • Some people seem to have a concern about Islam allowing enslavement of prisoners of War.

  • Remember that Islam allows the following treatment of prisoners of war:

    - Free Them unconditionally

    - Free them for Ransom

    - Exchange them for Muslim Prisoners

    - Or enslave them subject to the conditions noted in this video

Note here that "putting in a cage\prison" is not listed and enslavement is the Islamic version of that.

Ofcourse these "slaves" would be treated with the best of conduct as noted in the video and would have the right to demand freedom if they reform.

    Islam is more humane
