Game Concept
Bailter Ray is a 2.5D retro style sci-fi platform shooter. 2.5D meaning, visuals and gameplay that is essentially 2D but developed and displayed using a 3D graphics engine. We have drawn inspiration from many games but games such as Turrican, Vectorman, Megaman and Abuse are favorites. We have also taken influences from 1950s science fiction films, radio plays, and tin toys. Bailter Ray is a total conversion mod using the Unreal Tournament 3 engine.

Synopsis
Take control of marooned Astro-Explorer, Captain Phoenix Valentine as youre compelled to explore, jump and ray-gun to survive the dangerous attacks of an alien planets inhabitants.
In order to get home, Phoenix needs to retrieve his space ships power supply (a
wind up key), and locate his rocket ship.

Game Description
The player controls an Astro Explorer (spaceman) Captain Phoenix Valentine. The player navigates and explores various areas of the level and is rewarded with points by eliminating enemies, finding collectable alien planet samples and deducted points for losing lives. In the process of exploring the player discoverers new enemies and learns new skills to progress though the level.

  • @Drathgore thanks for the comment. The narration was pitch shifted and the video footage sped up in parts so it does sound a bit glitchy here and there... it also wasn't the final sound to go in the demo.

  • Thanks for playing XxXMegaXManXxX ,the final collectible is hidden inside an explode-able barrel !(but you have to backtrack after picking up the ray gun to the last of the cave waterfalls it's under there) :-)

  • Yep, I'm the lead designer and I created most of the art work, I had two fantastic programmers write all the script files.

  • This looks flawless, except for the double jump. The game doesn't need it! Aside from a few long jumps (e.g. over the moving spikes), all that your fancy "jet boots" do is lower the difficulty. Your level designs and game mechanics are varied enough already to be enjoyable.

  • how did you bind the character movement, im trying to make a game the uses 2.5d but i cant figure out how to bind the monvement, because it needs to be boyned to a curved line basicly
