Sometimes you need to improve even your very own language. I used to pronounce words which contain -ig in the Bavarian way (always as -ik, except some very few words like Ewigkeit), but there are official rules how to pronounce them differently. And here they are, in this vid with examples (from the book Sprechertraining by Michael Rossié).

  • Nice German mate, i'm proud of people who want to learn our Language.

It's not spoken that frequently like English, but it's a nice language and the most expressive Language in the World 'cause you can describe things very precisely, but that make's it very hard to learn.

Continue like this, you're on the best way to my mothertongue^^

  • @Paaanzaaa Uhm, I'm actually German. I've even never been to an English-speaking country yet...

  • Oh, I do enjoy learning German! It's quite like english with all it's rules and acceptions... keeps things interesting! ;)

  • Hahaha, that's something new to hear. Usually people complain about the complexity of our language's rules (and exceptions). You seem a real optimist! Very good! :D

  • Ok............this has confused me for years.............I always assumed it was pronounced as ..ik.........

But my first time to Frankfurt Germany I started to hear people say ....ish..

I am so confused..when I tried pronouncing...ik to my wife's family they laughed..........

*oh yea...by the way you speak English with a very distinct British accent.......I would have never even considered you to be German because it just sounds so British........when you said ok...it sounded like okei......

  • Thank you for this clarification. I've been wondering about this point of pronunciation. :D

  • exactly... but never thought of it. I just do it ... lol thank you for making me think abouot oy own language
