Traditions are very important to military units, and certainly not a waste of money. This perticular tradition is about ww2, our relationship with britain, and the history that is associated with this ceremony.
It's not deadly serous off course, but important nontheless. And to people worrying about tax payers money, the homeless and the orphans: don't worry, Norway is one of the best places to live. We're rich, bitch!
