why did henry feel threatened by Mary?

@nicholemarie86 because mary was a catholic, and since Henry VIII made Tudor England protestant, he felt that she might conspire against him because of what shes done to him, or might be part of the catholic rebellions :)

I think really determining who was the "good" guy and "bad" guy really depends on what you believe, for Catholics, Katherine was a strong defender as was Thomas More, Anne, Cranmer and Cromwell were defenders of another belief, But ultimately you have to look at as they were all just human standing up for what they believed was the true right path, Mary Tudor was a very bloody Queen she believed she needed to restore order and bring England back to the Catholic religion. but she wasn't evil

@anguiano49 he did love her. But she was a threat because she could easily raise an army because she was popular. As long as Anne didn't have a son Mary was a constant threat also she stood up for her mother and defied her father making her more popular so he was mad because he was king you couldn't disobey him.

I noticed that Sarah & Jonathan are both Irish but have like NO accent whatsoever. Do they live in Ireland or have they become so accustomed to using accents that their natural ones are gone? Either way they both are awesome actors!! :)

@nicholemarie86 Adding to what others have said there is also the fact that Mary was implicated at one point in the perceived uprisings by the House of York who were still active. She was implicated as being apart of a plot which would have involved her marrying into the York's and overturning her father's rule. As long as Henry had no male heir this was always a threat, in fact they were considered a threat into Elizabeth's reign when she had the last killed. (History mag. article)

@BoleynLover1 How would you feel, if you have to prove yourself ever day of your life that you are good enough, to your father, and live in fear that he might just chop off your head, Henry killed a lote of cathlics then mary killing protestants, and Elizebeth did to, she killed people of religous diffent type of faith, plus her step mother Anne B, was a very mean to her!!! so the prob had something to do with it, and plus the people that she had faith in were not good at adivsing her.

@nicholemarie86 I know right,!!! that was the same thing I was thinking, what could Henry feel threated by his own daughter, I think the dude, ment to say "Henry felt upset about Mary beging a girl" because if he did not have son then Mary would be Queen and Henry has states tones of times, he does not like woman Queen's!! LOL.

I think that some people are a little too understanding of her, yes i feel bad how her childhood was, but i dont think that what she decided to allow in her reign (burning of protestants) was inevitable. She could have been more lenient. Besides, basically the same thing happened to Elizabeth after Anne Boleyn died.
