wow nice man that was sick.

@Dblitz70 Interesting - when I import the raw .m2ts camera files into Vegas, it seems to think they are 29.970 fps. I guess some kind of de-interlace is happening in the background that is being hidden from me. And, when I save the intermediate renders in .avi and open them in VirtualDub, it also thinks it is 29.970. All this stuff is wonderfully complex ... I have much to learn. regarding mpeg7 H.264, the rendered quality is always horrible compared to using the MainConcept codec in Vegas.

Heh - the ferry is fast enough for water-skiing! Nice combo of cloud time-lapse in background. I'm working on an epic 700 mile drive time lapse, almost ready to post. I'll message you when ready. BTW, I've discovered how to decimate frames with VirtualDub.

Nice to see familiar scenes viewed by tourist...nice editing in the boat section with that original horn sound overlapped...
Keep the good work !
Hey Drew, I have questions about 1080 YT format. Did you shoot in HDFX or HDHQ on the HDR-CX550V? What render settings did you use (Premier or Vegas?) I ask because the camera shoots 29.970 fps, and Vegas does not offer a 1080p 30 fps mode (it does offer a 720p 30 fps mode). If I render at 1080 60i 1440x1080, the interlacing is annoying, and if I render at 1080 24p the interpolation adds motion blur. Thanks!

@stevecrye Steve, complicated question! First off, this is shot with both my FX1 and CX550v. I used the HDHQ setting on the CX550v if I recall correctly, and that would be 1440x1080i, which coincidentally matches the HDV for the FX1. In Premier, I edit in whatever settings the video was shot in, then output to 1920x1080 29.97p Flash. I tinker around with the bitrates, but 5 to 10 mb/s is plenty.
to be continued.

@stevecrye One thing you said about the CX550v shooting in 29.97, that is not accurate. It shoots in 60i. In theory, that gives you sufficient info to deinterlace to 29.97 (30p), but it's certainly not the same as true 30p. I don't know anything about Vegas I'm sorry, but you may try getting away from the BDR formats. What I mean is that the limitations you describe sound like the Bluray standard. Encode to just an mpeg4 H.264 method, and see if you have more options. like a 1920x1080 30p

@stevecrye another thing if you're outputting to 1080i. Make sure you use the right field order. If your interlacing looks horrendous, you may have inadvertently used the wrong field order. In HD video, the standard field order is top field first. For Youtube, I deinternlace, but for my Bluray discs, I use interlaced, and let my player handle it.
