Favorite gun for SHTF Mossberg 500 Shotgun

When or if SHTF my go to weapon for self defense is the Mossberg 500 12 gauge shotgun. Easy to clean, easy to shoot and relatively inexpensive to shoot and with many different varieties of ammo available you can use it to hunt anything from quail to big game. For girls shooting guns can sometimes be intimidating but with a little practice this one is not so bad.

I have a Mossberg Persuader 12 gauge also. I think I would go to the gauge also if the SHTF and I was protecting my property and being (fully loaded with 2-3/4 00 buck), five on the side saddle also). I would select the 12 gauge over my AR-15.

I would also have my 9mm on my side though.

This is basically standard equipment for our guys in the field too. Some will carry an AT4, M4, M9, 3 day assault pack, ammo, hydration apparatus, and body armor. Some guys are lucky and only have to carry their rifle and all the rest. One of the medics I had the honor to work with carried an "A" bag, an M249 w/ 1200 rounds, an M9, and misc. other shit. Crazyness

@atomrocketcar I hear you man...So many people think the 1911 is soo heavy, but if you carry it and train with it that just isn't so. Every other pistol feels like a toy! I've been keeping my happy ass in shape since I got out of the Army too. Hopefully I'll have time to make some training videos for youtube soon.

@TheParsonsRS ACOG TA31 would be what you want... 4X32 with a small reflex sight on top. You can get the crosshair in red or green and I believe in any configuration you want. (Chevron, Horseshoe, Crosshair, or Doughnut? Not 100% sure on that)

@atomrocketcar Yeah. I move very quickly too. I've had a lot of practice. 22 months 3 weeks of deployment to Iraq and Afghan in regular infantry and some SF stuff. I was a machinegunner early on and was the first guy in 9 years to complete a 31mile ruck march with an M240B, 1500 rounds, an IBA, and a 65lb ruck non-stop. I got challenge coins for that and I set running records at Ft.Benning and Baumholder. 2miles in 10min 3 sec. I'm 6'6" 213. Tall skinny gazelle! lol

@atomrocketcar lol It's not as much as you'd think. I carried far more when I was overseas... 1600 rounds of 7.62, 6 M4 mags, IBA etc etc. I can do 5 miles in about 30-31minutes with all that shit. Run 2 miles in 10 min 33 seconds. Set some records in the military. I'm the gazelle-like tall, skinny guy. (6'6" 213) lmao

@RayAir1 I'd Keep my SOPMOD AR and vest set up with 8 full mags + one in the rifle and one in my ass bag. My rig is pretty sick... When SHTF there will be a plethora of ammo for the AR too so that's a +. I have a Mossberg 590 with a 6 pos buttstock on a homemade single point sling that nestles nicely between my ruck and SAPI plate. 1911 on my hip with one mag in the well, one in the chamber, and 5 extra mags. 2 on the plate carrier and three on my belt... :)
