@hlwanmoe1981 The Burmese army uses a hodge-podge of weapons, some battlefield pick-ups from the various rebel forces (as I learned from a former Burmese army officer that I met and went shooting with in the States). I've seen G3's carried by the soldiers that guard homes of generals and government buildings, older M16's with the triangular forearms, old M1 carbines, Uzi's, an AK w/ grenade launcher, a PPS-43, an SA-26, local Uzi-styled SMG, and cool grenade launcher w/ MP5-A3-style grip/stock.
TRUE US and UK try to spread their influence to burma. they try to play the good guy role to impress the burmese so they can have their hands on burmese politic, economic, and culture. but yes the other guy was right, they failed. ne win claims that he is a socialist but not true.
Indeed. how backward do you have to be to think you can keep your own country in poverty and low health just so you have power. I know i'm bad for suggesting it, but I think the Junta needs to be overthrown and a neighboring country might have to do it,like Thailand..ir atlleast give the rebels in the North support.
I checked the MA1 internal system and I found out it copied from G3 and Carbine. So MA1 is mixed with G3 and Carbine. I think Carbine is still good to shoot, stable and it has simple functions. But the problem is expensive bullet. But anyway the rulling Junta is sucks!
This is movie, dude. So they just simply used the weapons they easily get. Actually Burma used G3 at that time. General bought all the things regarding with G3, including built the gun factory in Burma. G3 bullet can go through the iron of rail trail if you shot near from it. Apart from it we received nothing from west after General Ne Win coup the power.
That's odd, because burma does indeed have a lot of supplies from the UK and the US. Before the crack down, I know we tried to secure a friendship with Burma(as we did with Thailand). I know Ne Win was a socialist, but I've been told that they received weapons and military equipment. Perhaps thailand gave them M16s? Perhaps India gave them L1A1 rifles?
Nope man. West never supplied Burma. Before crack down General Ne' Win tried to make friendship with Russia and Yugoslavia. West tried to help to Burma but they never succeeded because of stupid thug, General Ne Win. Now the situation in Burma is even worse. Whole bunch of thugs are ruling.

You're right. I did the research. Myanmar wanted Russian/Chinese weapons, but has it's own models and weapons produced in it;s own factories.
The G3 and the MA1 were copied back in the 80's

Burma was supplied by the west before the crack down.

soldiers should be armed with G3 or MA1. Not M16.
