  • Since the responsibilities of child care still fall primarily on the mother ( alas even in the 21sr century), affordable and high quality child care is essential if women are going to be able to participate fully in Canadian society. A woman who stays at home to care for her children thereby relying solely on her husband for financial support is placing herself and her children in economic danger in light of the 40% rate of marriage failure in this country.
