Introverts aren't afraid of talking to others. Shy people feel anxiety in social situations, but shyness and introversion are different. Introverts simply have different social preferences. Talking is less of a priority than listening.

I think a big problem for us introverts is small talk. My mind freezes when some one goes "whats up?"
So i think a good thing to do is to start the conversation yourself about something that actually interests you like "you know what i've been thinking?" or "which quote do you agree with more?"
because there is a difference between being shy and being an introvert. If you can overcome shyness people will definitely enjoy talking to you for interesting conversation.

@CHRISTMASBASTARD Aspergers? My sister told me I had that, even though that was the only person, I've tried looking it up but truthfully, still have no idea exactly what it is so if it's similar to that then I still wouldn't know. I know what you mean about working out who I am but god, I still don't know. I hope you find an andwer because I never have

@bangthatdrumb EXACTLY what I was thinking.

i am also introverted, but i am sure you would talk a lot more with people who also share your same interests

hello congratulation to every one I found cure of this disease . first of all I am from India and sometimes I thought that I have social phobia also. But eventually i came to know that this not a disease but multinational companies of pharmaceuticals made this disease. It is due to lower level of oxygen in the brain. Just search baba ramdev kapalbhati videos . videos are about breathing exercises that will ensure oxygen to each and every part of brain nagative feelings even cant touch you

Oh man I'm sorry to hear that! People compare you to a killer just because you are an introvert...I really feel you, they're the kind of people that belong into a "clique" and they would do anything to bring other people down, and it's really sad that even after high school you think most people would grow up and look past this stuff? Nope, there are still those people that will always be ignorant about introverts...just stick with your friends and remember to stay true to yourself

I like the way you make a destinction between friends and acquaintants. I think the word "friend" is used too loosely. A lot of people on YT even collect "friends".
As for "explore my personality" have you checked out:
Introvert - Extrovert
iNtuitive - Sensing
Thinking - Feeling
Judging - Perceptive
This is not how it's normally listed but it's my type.

I am introverted and I am not sure if its due to getting diagnosed with Semantic Pragmatic Disorder (similar to Aspergers) when I was little which everyone says I don't have??? SO I don't knooow. To be honest I am rapidly starting not to give a shit about working out who I am because no one seems to be honest enough to tell me... in my simplest words: I must have messed up a fraction of my brain trying to figure out who the hell I am with my stupid family. Keep trying, yep keep trying.

lol... i feel like you re describing me. I have few friends and always get in trouble for saying whats in my mind.

I'm introverted. How about social activity being DRAINING to your energy. That's a big one for me. Extraverted actually get energized from it.

Im an asian male, 23, and have been pretty reserved my whole life. I'm an introvert. I have a only total of 3 friends that I keep in touch with regularly usually hang out only once a week bc of school/work schedules. It's hard for me to start conversation and keep it going. Because I'm quiet and introverted I feel that people are comparing me to the VT killer and that's not fair and it's making my introversion worse.

People are doing that?? That's terrible! I think sometimes it's good to try to apply yourself socially, but still not denying your true self or introversion. Too much of one extreme does bring up possible issues, but being able to balance your social personality can be a really positive thing. I'm learning that slowly but surely.
Good luck! And don't fret too much. :)

I don't exactly have a lack of confidence. I just would much rather not talk to people. I feel like it takes too much of an effort to do it, and honestly I'm quite content with not dealing with other people. I just need to learn not to do that in professional settings. So I'm enrolling in my own mental acting class...
