Woody Guthrie is the best!

If you like Woody, then you should check out Pokey LaFarge. He is a young guy who plays music just like this. A real tribute to a man like Woody. Even looks like him a little!

So simple and so powerful, folk music without embellishment at its purest. Still my favourite version.

what a wonderfully bold adornment for the 1930's. I'd be interested to learn how Guthrie was thought of among his more proper contemporaries.

try and look at google 'social gospel'.There have been written several good biobiographies, in which one can learn a lot about the Great Depression's music
