how is it encourgaging interactions interactions amoungst people if you have to sneak up to them and give them the card without being noticed by or "interacting" with them at all

If you didn't notice the internet creates virtual interactions that emulate real life. The interactions are real even if the world is not.
Board Games, gambling and the like have been around for along time.
Compared to somethign fresh fun and amazing like Osmos or Flower (from the students who made flOw). Which really explore new concepts in game play and probably took longer than 10min.

I just expected more from 16 year olds of the year 2009.
The BW Science Labs kid from this award was pretty awesome awesome though.
