@CARMSFAV It's not an agree to disagree situation, fact is, I have respect for The Smiths, and you simply put, don't. I love Eurythmics but no one covering someone else's sentiment and songwriting "makes it their own." The Smiths cover a James song very well, but it's not THEIRS, and such is the case here too. I may like Sinead O'Connor's "Nothing Compares 2 U" more than a Prince version, but she still doesn't "make it her own," because she didn't write it!!!!

@sharrison586 Whoa! Of course it is not Annie's song.and she did not write it. Not disputing who wrote the song. Obviously The Smiths thought Annie would be a great choice for a cover of their song. There is only one original of anything and everything after will always be by comparison. Annie did sing this song better anyway! That is my opinion and I am entitled to it! Annie is singing the song, therefore she is making it her own.Jeeze man....Chillllllll

Nice cover and Annie has such a wonderful voice.. But Morrissey is Morrissey and he sings it like he means it - because he means it. No comparison really in this case.

@CARMSFAV I meant he/she lacked sensitivity to the original music when making the backing track to this version - it sounds like something you would find on a karaoke cd.

I love Annie Lennon, but she doesn't capture the fullness of this precious Smiths song, with the original its a piece of art.

@sharrison586 We must agree to disagree=) Annie's version is very different from the original and like it or not, she DID make it her own!.... No More I Love Yous and A Whiter Shade of Pale come to mind when comparing originals to cover versions. Sorry, not gonna change my mind!
