Joseph Smith de-evolved in his view of God - and changing it from time to time. Read the first edition of the Book of Mormon - then go read the Pearl of Great Price...

  • I don't think the BoM is trinitarian - i think it's saying Jesus IS the Father, that the Father came down as Jesus. at least at some points in the text that's what it looks like.

  • Some like that yes... thats "modalism" I think....

  • Mormonism doesn't appear to have a systematic theology to begin with. It's like a bunch of speculations just thrown together.

  • I dont think they have systematic theology to this day - so that they can change and alter doctrine later...

The LDS people generally are moving more and more toward christianity - but still, mormonism is not christian at all.

Lets hope and pray the LDS church turns like the "Church of God" did for 50 years ago or something

  • So do you think it's possible for Mormonism to reform itself? Great videos by the way.

  • By Gods grace they will... Pray for the LDS church.

But on the other hand - they are kind of trying to "slip in" to christianity - so they make a perfect wolf in sheep clothing.... having a works-based salvation, false view of God, sin, salvation, heaven and hell

  • [Polygamy]For behold, I reveal unto you a new and an everlasting covenant; and if ye abide not that covenant, then are ye damned; for no one can reject this covenant and be permitted to enter into my glory.--Joseph Smith D&C 4:132.

Are you damned by Joseph by not entering in polygamy?

  • The only men who become Gods, even the Sons of God, are those who enter into polygamy.--Brigham Young JoD vol 11 pg 289.

I speak of plurality of wives as one of the most holy principles that God ever revealed to man, and all those who exercise an influence against it, unto whom it is taught, man or woman, will be damned...-Herber C. Kimball JoD vol 11 pg 211.

Now if any of you will deny the plurality of wives, and continue to do so, I promise that you will be damned...-BY JoD vol 3 pg 266

  • "But the official idea is no, it has no bearing."

"Exaltation is gained through the new and everlasting covenant" excerpt from D&C 132.

What is this "new and everlasting covenant" that is being referred to here?

Being 'exalted' is not a good thing, according to the mormons?

  • Well, a lot of people think that because of a quote Brigham Young once said about it. But the official idea is no, it has no bearing.

  • "Are you trying to bring up what what Brigham Young once said that only polygamists are the ones that will receive the Celestial kingdom?"

I don't know who came up with that.

Don't mormons believe that polygamy has any effect on where someone ends up in eternity?

  • No, I am saying that it is neither good or evil.

Are you trying to bring up what what Brigham Young once said that only polygamists are the only ones that will receive the Celestial kingdom?

  • "niether"

So, you are saying that mormons don't believe that polygamy has any effect on where someone ends up in eternity?

  • niether

  • precisely.
