Easy Cheese Boat Appetizer

This is a hot cheese dip that I guarantee your guests will love! Great thing to bring to a pot luck.

2- 8oz packages cream cheese softened
1 cup mayonnaise
1 cup grated cheese (I used marbled)
1 package (about 1/2 cup) bacon bits. Real or simulated chips okay.
2 green onions chopped fine
2 loaves of Italian bread

Blend cream cheese and mayonnaise together until smooth.
Add cheese, onions and bacon bits.

Cut the top off an Italian loaf of bread (keep the top)
Hollow out the loaf removing most of the bread.
Fill the loaf with the dip mix and replace the top of the loaf.
Wrap with aluminum foil and bake in oven at 350F for 1.5 to 2 hours.

Remove foil and top of loaf and serve with additional Italian bread or crackers.

does it have to be mayonnaise (eww) could i use heavy cream and salt..

@taintedlovergirl You can try whatever you want, don't know if it would be too thin and runny (eww) with the cream.

This does make for a very nice presentation and as the dip get lower, guests can break off pieces of the dip covered "bowl".

Cream cheese is a wonderful thing. :)
