This is part of Rock's bigger message, which is that black people need to focus on building wealth, not just having nice things. If you get a job and spend the money you make on nice things instead of saving it for the future, you don't build wealth. Northern europeans and Asians have a long tradition of saving for the future, and and that's a big part of the story of why things ended up how Chris explains in this sketch.

Sad but true for the most part,that's the reality people.If you don't like it do something about it.Appleton Estates/Wray and Nephew, Digicel, Wisynco/Bigga/Wata all owned by whites,I could go on and on. @jamdowner came as indentured servants worked hard and made there own way, however we know know "hard work" is one of the many ideals that distinguishes the Jamaican ethos and Black Jamaicans have worked just as hard through out the island's rich history and remain overwhelmingly disproportionately under represented among the island's economic stratosphere.

@jamdowner Believe you missed the point I was trying to allude to,which simply is despite Jamaica being a country comprised overwhelmingly of individuals of African descent it's economic engines e.g. corporations are primarily controlled by persons that do not belong to that demographic. And I think that inconsistency speaks volumes about Jamaica itself and the broader world we live in. Of course I am aware that many of Jamaica's ethnic minorities e.g. Indians,Chinese, etc. Cont'd......

@darealthing03 I won't speak for whites but for the browns and yellows a lot of them came as refugees or indentured servants who worked really hard, saved and started their own businesses. Jukie Chin who ownes Juici Patties started out at 16 baking patties in his parents small shop & selling them and saving till he could open his first store in May Pen. Now he is the 'elite' oppressor. You check the Ammars and Azans and Matalons and you'll see the same. Nobody gave them anything.

i usually have respect for chris rock but its ignorant and foolish to think that black people owns or are the main profitteers of ANYTHING ANYWHERE. Every time he steps on a stage or in front of a camera he's makes the white man a ridiculous amount of money he'll never see. Cmon folks stop trying to put yourselves above each other, blacks has been on the same boat since 1602.
