Cultural Connection: Brewing Traditions in Latvia.mov

Celebrating his Latvian heritage, a New Jersey homebrewer undertakes a stone beer, heating river stones over a wood fire, immersing them in the heated malt sugar solution (wort) to finish its climb to boiling temperature. Brewer Maris Kukainis discusses the process and how homebrewing is returning to Latvia. Check out the intro and outro music, some Latvian beer songs that were playing on Maris' iPod.

NOTE: The video was shot on two separate occasions: Interview portions are from National Homebrew Day (held on May 1st this year), while stone brewing was shot two weeks later.
