Allens hummingbird feeding from the orange flowers of a Bouvardia Terniflolia plant. The bird is not a Rufous hummingbird which has a green back.

  • I don't mean to rain on your parade but that isn't Bourvardia ternifolia. It's actually Tecomaria capensis commonly called Cape Honeysuckle.

    Cape honeysuckle is native to the Cape of Good Hope region of South Africa It is pollinated by sunbirds where it's from and I'm finding that sunbird pollinated flowers tend to have more nectar than hummingbird pollinated ones since sunbirds are slightly larger and have more of an appetite I guess.
