A) "Graduate programs like to use real-life examples, real businesses, as a way to study," says Drucker School marketing professor Jenny Darroch.
That's precisely why the Drucker School makes it a point to offer courses that provide an opportunity for students to apply their knowledge and practice their skills -- such as Dr. Darroch's Marketing Strategy course.
Students in our marketing strategy course work with real clients -- and get real world experience. This summer two students received some local media attention when The Ojai Valley News ran a feature story about their headway on the marketing project they were completing in conjunction with the city of Ojai.
"We want to build partnerships with the community, we want to give back," said Darroch.

B) The Drucker School provides many opportunities for students and alumni community to stay involved and learn from top-experts in the field. For example, David L. Cooperrider, the Fairmount Minerals Professor of Social Entrepreneurship at the Weatherhead School of Management, Case Western Reserve University, came to the Drucker School on August 8 to give a lecture on The Discovery and Design of "Positive Institutions" that Magnify and Refract Our Highest Human Strengths into the World. He has also lectured and taught at Harvard, Stanford, University of Chicago, MIT, University of Michigan, and Cambridge.
During his talk Dr. Cooperrider shared the story of two powerful inspirations that came from his meeting with Peter Drucker in 2002 -- and how these inspirations have connected and combined key domains in his work.
C) The Drucker School will welcome the entering class of 2008 with an action-packed orientation on August 29. They will do a case study with strategy professor Vijay Sathe (Saw-tay), embark on a discussion of ethics with Professor Jim Wallace, have some self discovery with the Odyssey Project, and even enjoy a reception at the home of Claremont Graduate University's President Klitgaard.

Welcome to all of our new students!
