This is parts 3 and 4 of Uncle Don's "Etiquette In Rhyme" series. I do not have any of the other parts, nor do I know much more about him, so any additional information would be truly appreciated. This is a Velvet Tone record, # 1918-V. Again, it's on my Victor Victrola VV-VIIIa. Enjoy!

  • Don Carney better known as Uncle Don had a radio show on the Mutual Broadcasting System from about the late 1920's through the 1940's. In the 1940's he made records in sets for children on the Sonora label.

There has been a rumor over the years that one day he said a rather obsene remark. It was picked up on the air waves because the engineer was late turning off the microphone His ratings apparently went down as a result.

    Uncle Don died around 1954.

  • Sorry for the late response, I just figured out how to check my mail on here. Thank you for all that information! I really appreciate it : )

  • The line, preserved for posterity (Kermit Schaefer used to play it in promoting his "Pardon my Blooper" records, was, "We're off? Good, well that ought to hold the little bastards." He had just finished singing, "Goodnight, little kiddies, good niiggght!"
