"I invite them all to please come out, take a look," she said. "If you want to know
what it is, why don't you come out and see it firsthand?" (Donna Garde, park superintendent)

"From what I'm hearing it could be a once-in-a-lifetime event," said Herbert A. "Joe" Pase, a Texas Forest Service entomologist. "It's very, very unusual."

"It is amazing, absolutely amazing," said Dr. Horner, who at first thought it an e-mail hoax.

From Star-Telegram staff writer BILL HANNA

Allen Dean Texas A&M entomologist studied 250 specimens and identified 12 families of spiders.

It'd be nice to know what kind of webs these spiders make?

Are they all orb-weavers? looks more like funnel spiders' webs?

heavy rains have knocked down most of it, yet they continue to rebuild....will anyone actually document what happens?

  • I have seen atleast two different types of tarantula's lurking around austin and, the lake travis (lago vista) area. I never see these things this big.The other day I saw a huge pitch black spider. I wonder what it was.
