I used the wife's nylons (make sure she's doesn't mind), made strategic slices, then slathered on some carpet adhesive. Carpet adhesive will be extremely tacky but good to shape with. Once dry, I used an ebony wood stain followed by a quick drying clear coat sealant. Hope that helps!
