http://www.BJJForLIfe.com - Berimbolo Sweep

In this video I talk about 3 different positions and situations where you can possibly hit the berimbolo sweep along with some little pointers that may help you along the way.

1. Opponent has Combat Base
2. Opponent Standing
3. Double Guard Pull

**Disclaimer - I'm still in the learning phase of this move as well. Been practicing it for a few months. If you have additional tips feel free to add them and I will practice them as well**

Thanks and enjoy
Jason

  • @jasculs when i try this when my opponent is standing it seem as if i can't get him off balance or break down his posture enough to kick him into the back- any suggestions?

  • @jiujitsuroxsox How is he standing up...is he standing up completely straight?

  • @jasculs yes usually when i try for it the person im going with will be standing straight- also is it necessary to get the de la riva hook all the way to the far side ? thank you for your videos!!!!

  • @jiujitsuroxsox When the person stands straight up, it's actually not very easy to get honestly....at least for me...I hit this move with a very good amount of success but as mentioned in the I am still getting better at it. I find I hit it better when the person is standing but in more of a squatting pass posture. It's not always necessary to get the de la riva hook all they way across BUT it does help. If they stand straight up you may need to transition to something else.

  • I still don't understand why you need the hand in front of his trapped shin. As soon as the sweep starts you let go/pull the hand out.

Is it merely to help you spin?

    Thanks. Great vids

  • @CCCFighter It's to help me get started spinning and getting inverted.

  • Hi Jason - quick newb question, with the recent IBJJF rule changes is this now illegal due to the left arm underhooking the shin?

    Thanks

  • i think it just clicked for me! thanks for the vid!

  • Bjj Nike's by Koral.... aaaawsome!!

  • Sometimes you may have the same trouble I do with people who are good at defending and passing the de la riva guard, seeing as I and my training partners are students of a de la riva black belt. So I made a variation of this where I actually grab my shin with the hand that hooks the leg. It makes it easier to roll and it will prevent them from getting their leg back.

  • I rarely ever comment. Its great to see your humble approach to this advanced position. Solid knowledge, great walk through of technique and a great amount of humility. Well done sir. I would also focus on escaping the hips once you have "kicked out" the opponent and your both on your side, makes taking the back much much easier. Thanks for the great vid man,

  • Why does this kid have wrestling shoes on??
