The lovely Gogi Grant singing "On the Sunny Side of the Street" this song is from "The Helen Morgan Story". Miss Grant provided the vocals for Ann Blyth in the film.

  • Very glad that you posted this. Many thanks to you. It's a great reminder of a wonderful period in our past and brings about some very precious memories. Can't thank you enough.

  • Most welcome!

  • Thanks for the most played recording in my home since I discovered Gogi by watching the Helen Morgan Story.

Now friends since meeting in '89 I'm bragging shamelessly to say that when she was last in my home town about three years ago she told me she'd have a surprise for me and it was this song as an encore.

She's always laughed as I stammer around trying to point to exactly what it is about this arrangement right from the way she hits the word hat at the start, that after 33 years.

    THANKS!

    JT

  • @missclassicforever: I heard Jack Warner wanted a more of a belting/Judy Garland style of singing so he had Ann dubbed.

  • Gogi Grant is a very blessed singer with a gorgerous voice.

But I will never understand why she dubbed Ann Blyth in The Helen Morgan Story.

Ann Blyth is one of the finest singers of all time. Her voice is extraordinary.

  • she sang it with a really happy energy and truly imparted the correct subtext of the song...this is the best version i have heard so far..."no more blues on parade!"

  • @renaissancea It certainly is amazing!

  • She's my aunt. I'm the proud niece. What can I say. Too bad her talent didn't get passed down to me.

  • @Thunderbird7090 I love her music, friend of my uncle's who knows her brother stan from the flower business
