@Mineav It would have been zero if not for two exceptionally stupid incidents of bean counters telling engineers to shut up.

Challenger - engineers recommended against launch in that weather citing O rings. Managers told them to shut up, it'd be fine.

Columbia - engineers demanded inspections of the space craft in orbit. Managers told them to shut up, it was too expensive and time consuming, and it would be fine.

God knows why the world needs managers.

That's a pretty good record, actually. Two failed launches in about 150, total. I believe that's an error rate of 1.5%. I hear how the Russian Soyuz rockets are so much safer, and maybe they probably are to an extent. But with a 1.5% launch error rate with NASA's Space Shuttles, that's pretty damn impressive.

I just met Story at the K.A.S here in Kalamazoo MI, We met at the cafe on Gull road. This was my first time ever meeting someone that has been to space! I got two signed pictures and a long story of his time in space. Buddy Mike Cook took me to see him, It was very thrilling! I am going to see him again, tomorrow at the Kalamazoo Museum. I will put pictures up an my FB page!
