Buzz over new Tin Pei Ling video -- Mon, May 16, 2011
Shot and uploaded in Sep 2008, it is a promotional video shot in conjunction with the National Youth Forum of 2008, which was entitled "Changing Perspectives".
Miss Tin, then 24, dressed in jeans and a yellow spaghetti top, acting as a love-lorn girl who plays the "he loves me, he loves me not" game while counting down the many rings on her hand.
An unidentified man then knelt down beside her in a make-believe marriage proposal with Tin nodding in acceptance. The video ends with the message, "NYF 2008: Be Engaged".
Ms Tin has been actively involved in the NYF and chaired the organising committee of the 2006 event.
The NYF began in 2004 to address Prime Minister Lee Hsien Long's call to enhance the level of youth civic participation and nation building in Singapore. In NYF, youths from different backgrounds have a chance to debate national issues and spearhead initiatives to benefit the community at large.
Ms Tin was part of Senior Minister Goh Chok Tong's winning Peeople's Action Party team in Marine Parade GRC in the recent elections.
Although expected to serve the residents of the McPherson ward, she has been heavily criticised in recent weeks for being too inexperienced to become an MP.
An ongoing petition to remove her as an MP is also circulating online and has collected over 17,000 signatures.

Netizens continue to call for Tin Pei Ling's resignation
May 16th, 2011 | Author: Temasek Review
One week after the election, some netizens continue to call for the resignation of controversial Marine Parade MP Tin Pei Ling while the PAP acts as if nothing has happened.
Ms Tin was alleged to have flouted the election rules by making a snide comment on her Facebook wall on 'Cooling off' day about her opponent Nicole Seah.
The Election Department refused to act on the complaint by Nicole and advised her to lodge a police report instead. Nicole has decided to let the matter rest.
Over at the "Petition to remove Tin Pei Ling" Facebook, netizens remain opposed to her as a MP.

I am so ashamed that I am a Singapoprean. Why is this happening? As if it's not enough that we are ridiculed by the world as a mock democracy - we now have HER as an MP.
So very very depressed. Really, I am so sorry - I have given up on Singapore and Singaporeans. Seriously, 60 bloody % voted for them? We deserve to be treated as the idiots we are.
