What a great historical video for us, who grew up knowing Gail Royer..even if I was a Commodore 65-71..We had respect for the Vanguards and what they did to awaken the Drum Corps world of the West Coast power and style...Many times I had the pleasure and honor to share a meal and conversation with Gail Royer, Jerry Seawright,Jim Ott..The greatest guys I have known... This is a great tribute to man who truly believed in his kids...
Thank you Mrbud for posting this video. It was great to see and hear Gail to take us on a journey through the years and reminisce about the rich history of SCV. He made it a point to learn all of our names and went out of his way to make sure we all knew that he was there for us. He was always honest with us and told us like it was. I loved huddling up around him after the performances eagerly anticipating what he had to say. He was a great man and is truly missed!
Wow! I'm a vet from the '87 show. I was unaware these interviews even existed until recently. Gail was very careful in his praise and criticism of the corp. from year to year. He understood how much weight his opinion carried with the performing members. It feels great to know he held that year in such high regard given all the excellent performers that have been part of the corps. history. Go SCV!
Great post, I have to ask though. Did he know at this time he was sick?

This brings a tear to my eye. Being a SCV vet is something I will treasure forever.
Gail was a true friend and made the entire experience something magical.

I love the ending of Carmen. Oh give it to Wes Cartwright for the ending.
I met Gail once in Allentown, PA in 91' he was the soul of SCV.
