i'm thinking of selling my 418 10hp enfield diesel for the next project.. but oh it is such a reliable and well running bike, got many things improved..

maybe keep it?

@FatWhiskyDrinkingGuy I've ordered my bike! Should get it at the end of September. Mine will have the 17 tooth sprocket, giving a maximum / cruising speed of exactly 55 mph @ 3600. (by gps, not speedo) - Should have decent hillclimbing & headwind resistance & be able to spend most of its time in top, saving fuel. Yours is definitely the 18 tooth, giving a maximum of 58 mph @3600. (by gps) Henry reckons he's built 35 bikes now! : )

@hiyadroogs // It's the 18, i think. And that's about the right number, because with a strong headwind, top speed drops considerably. Not forgetting the FAT part of my tubename, i'm really happy with the performance you get. ( current weight 135 kg, don't know how many stones and pebbles that is, but i should lose about 40 kg to be thin again...) I'm even considering to get a small lightweight trailer to put sleeping bags & stuff for when ill take it out on a weekend. Stainless w&s , yes.....

@FatWhiskyDrinkingGuy Do you have the 18 or 19 tooth gearbox sprocket fitted? The Robin I rode was way overgeared, & would struggle to maintain cruise speed even on gradients invisible to the eye. The Changfa is 6 cc smaller, but rated @ the same continuous 8.5 bhp output, so I figured the lower tooth sprocket would help the engine maintain rpm in top. Not bothered about not reaching 60 mph downhill! As long as it can maintain 50 mph on the level. Did you have stainless steel wheels & spokes?

But remember.....you get what you pay for.....a lot of little things need to be sorted out to make the bike perfect....Front drum break is rubbish, and i'm in the process of replacing all lights by led's, because the engine turns at such low revs, the battery doesn't get enough charging. Top speed is about 96 Km/H, or 56 MPH, but nicest cruising vibrations come at about 70 Km/H or 44 MPH.

Hi,

When i ordered the bike, i could have gotten it the same day, but because i live in Belgium, i asked for the bike to be registered in the UK first, to make the paperwork go faster in Belgium. I still got all the e-mails, and the first one was on the 28th of april, all paperwork was ready 22nd of june,and i went over to England to get the beast on the 5th of july...

And the wave of the hand thing.....idling set to low.....stops when you let go of the throttle.......oink oink oink
