The bartender is played by Brian Dennehy and his patron this night is played by Dudley Moore, a scene from the movie "10". As Dudley talks about the "music of his era", a pianist is playing strains of "Laura" composed by David Raksin and Johnny Mercer for the film of the same name starring Gene Tierney and Dana Andrews. Frank Sinatra follows with his October, 1947 recording of "Laura" arranged by Axel Stordahl.

  • Wait! What is this. 1947. I accept Sinatra. But Dudley was a 12 year old kid. And Dehenny more or less! Back to future or what?

  • LOL, 1947 was the era Dudley grew up in and was talking about so I just merged one of the most famous recordings of "Laura" to his comments.

  • Sinatra did a great job with this tune. Spike Jones version was really good before all the calamity starts in their version. There are times I wish they had finished the tune without the typical horns, bells, and sound effects. The movie Laura is very good.

  • I know that Brian's part of this clip is minor, but it is pleasant to hear since there is very little that is featured on YouTube from movies he was in. Found this only because I was researching Brian's name. Nice to hear him in conversation as the bartender. Thanks.

  • Brilliant clip!
