ET:QW is a multiplayer-based first person shooter by British developer Splash Damage, who previously created the original and freely available Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory. The game is based in the popular Quake universe, featuring the war between mankind and the evil Strogg and serving as a prequel to Quake 2. Generally the game is comparable to the Battlefield series with two rather symmetrical factions and class based gameplay but is organized in short campaigns with the gathering of experience points (which are being reset after every campaign). Quake Wars is also noteworthy for being the only game to make use of John Carmack's MegaTexture technology which allows to create huge unique terrains from just one file.
