We waited on the firm green coloed bed in the docotrs office for Soph's results.
She had a death-grip on my hand and I dont tihnk she is going to let go. I predict future bruises.
Jess: It's going to be okay, y'know.
Soph: Okay? How will this be okay? What if he doesn't want this baby, Jess? What if he leaves? What if he wants me to get rid of it?
Her breathing quickened and she started hyperventilating.
Soph: What about college? Harvard? Jess, Joe is paralized. He has a whole new lifestyle ahead of him. I dont want a baby to get in the way of that. The way of his life..
Jess: You listen here. Listen to me. This baby is his too. And he is one of the nicest guys i know. He would fall in love with it the minute he saw it. And even if he did choose to, ... leave. You are mother material. Man there or not. You have me, you have Kevin. And I bet you would even have Nick. An amazing suppot system, If i do say so myself. And i REALLY dont think Joe would leave. Its not him. I think this baby will want him get better.
She took a deep inhale of breath.
Soph: Okay. You're right.
Just then the doctor came in the room. Her tight black hair was pulled back in a bun.
Nurse: Sophia Keith?
Sophie's head popped up from the floor to the soft brown eyes of the nurse.
Soph: Yes?
Nurse: Comgratulations. You are 2 weeks pregnant.
Her grip on my hand loosened, only for that hand to be led up to her face, cupping her mouth as she smiled through the tears.
Soph: Jess! I'm Pregnant!
Jess: I know!
Nurse: You're first ultrasound is scheduled in about 2 weeks, then on we will do one every 2 months if all goes well.
Soph: Okay.
The nurse left. I looked at Soph.
Jess: Pregnant. Wow.
Soph: I know! Its amazing.
Jess: I so call godmother.
She laughed lightly.
Soph: You so had it in the bag.
Jess: Good. Now, how are you going to tell Joe?
