It's a nice notebook but it's not worth the price even if weight is your number one criteria for buying a laptop. He claims that the Air doesn't compromise on features but a CD/DVD player is standard on most laptops. I think I'd rather save a few hundred dollars on one of the regular Macbooks.
Actually, it very rarely happens that the competition exceeds Apple. By the time they do, Apple has a new product out. Now for Air , my main issue with laptops is heat, and such a thin laptop can't be the best in that department. Or?
id snap that notebook trying 2 open it. opens/turns on sure my desktop PC turns on faster than it i saw a guy turn his on and when i got home it turned my PC on and it is faster. Mac=Gay Steve Jobs=Gay
mac is so dumb. they always list competers and stuff their competeing with like the other laptop. i mean the mac book air is not so durible and well its dumb for me.
Both by NEC, both with the same screen tech that Dell provides to their Latitudes. Only one model will be available first, the other 1 year after that. Decision to be made soon. Also, the quad core chip will be the main chip in them. The wirless SSD cards will be standard at 1 GB as well. Not sure if that will be included with purchase.
They are making it now, out next year at Expo - basically just a slight thicker, two versions: a twisting presentation-style screen that also folds back onto the keypad, and a folder over where the sceeen folds on to the bottom of the computer.
excellent work!

Rarely doesn't mean never.
Well, my laptop has an external but quite noisy & bulky cooling pad. Then again, there might a quieter & less bulking cooling gadget by now...
If Apple is so mind blowing superb, I figure they have a way to deal with heat issues.

First doesn't mean best.
This looks like an awesome notebook, but it's only an matter of time till the competition equals or exceeds this.
It's really thin & that's nice, but a 20 inch screen Notebook of this form factor would be nicer.
Eletronics keep getting smaller & more efficient, while human vision stays the same.
