Teddy Pendergrass, who became R&B's reigning sex symbol in the 1970s and '80s with his passionate love ballads and later became an inspirational figure after a car accident that left him paralyzed, died Wednesday at age 59. (Jan. 14)

Wow!! Where do people get their information?

Teddy had cancer, unfortunately, many people die of colon cancer, I lost several relatives. I feel for his family. It is never easy to lose someone never!!! I think doctors should tell people to get screened much earlier than they are told to. I think it's sad people are coming up w/such crap about conspiracies.

I think Teddy was, is the most kind, caring human being. And he had such a talent.

No other singer will ever come close!

Teddy was one of my favorit singers. Probably my favorite soul singer. Forget he was in a car with a tranny and the big cover up about that.

Didn't hear this news when it happened! It's so sad. Teddy Pendergrass was the absolute top ballad singer on the black music scene in his day. He was idolized as the "Teddy Bear." When he was so grievously injured in the car accident, his career slipped I'm sure due to health concerns. It's sad that he had to suffer ill health the rest of his life and suffer with cancer. My prayers go out to this wonderful man who provided so many with love and joy through his magical music.

@Stillpimpn06 ..my point is that he was never as popular as Elvis Presley. Not to say he never had an impact in Soul music but let's face it...he hardly make an impact worldwide like Elvis did. My comment to the other poster....was merely saying that I doubt Teddy faked his death or that black singers are being "knocked off" mysteriously. Long live soul music!! Peace brother!!
