He had a golden tone and for me his Beethoven pn.sonata Op.81a 'Les Adieux' is the BEST ever performed, likewise, the Brahms Ballades and some of Grieg Lyric pieces too.
Oh that's good news, Geoslav. And dobri vechia (I am sorry my Russian is bad). It would be really great if you could post it whenever you have the time as I love the Brahms 1st very much and was bowled over when I first heard the great Emil Gilels' recording with Eugen Jochum.

i practiced the whole concerto a bit more than two months before the first performance. Brahms is a friend.

I know that disc - brahms 1 and the ballades. Georgi's website has some excerpts from the ballades as well. ;)
