The aliens are watching this laughing their purple asses off about how we call debris space garbage when the rest of the universe considers us space garbage! I can't say that's funny, but I do see the irony.

you would think they would think up someway to get rid of all the space garbage so launches as well as sats. , international space station and other such valued equipment would be safe from them..but no lets just let billions of dollars go down the drain cause we are not smart enough or care enough to actual clean up the shit we made in the first place. watch wall-e that definately could be our fate if left up to the idiots at nasa.

It actually is.
The debris is traveling extremely fast, sometimes up to thousands of miles / hour.
Even debris the size that is mentioned here, still would have an impact great enough to possibly penetrate the spacecraft.
