Blustery winds drive wisps of steam across the horizon. As I get closer I see that Santa has come to Edgerton, WI and he rode in on a steam propelled iron horse. There it sits, ready to roll.
As departure time comes I've assumed a strategic position in the direction of the train.
Unfortunately, it backs away from me.
Aha! I'm in luck - the engine is just backing up to a few cars in a siding. Then, with the train fully assembled, it will surely come toward me.
Wrong again!
It disappears backwards completely out of sight and seemingly out of town. Will they drive backwards all the way to Madison???
It just can't be - so I wait.
It's not in vain, either.
With a huge plume of steam and smoke, Santa's train finally leaves town in the right direction.
It doesn't get far, though. In Milton it's time for coal and water.
A former MILW Fairbanks-Morse H10-44 switcher masquerades as a C&NW unit.
Maybe it's MILW753?
Then, finally, the highball for Janesville....
Nice! Glad to be able to see what I missed. Just didn't feel like making the trip in the blustery weather today.

Thank you - I tried to give a bit of the goings-on around the event, too.
