SYNOPSIS:
The goal of this project was to show two characters in conflict with one another, using one continuous take with no cuts or edits. I wrote this scene based on two mob bosses, one Irish and one Italian, having a sit down. Frank wants to call a hit on one of Carlo's family member, and wants his OK.

DIRECTOR'S NOTES:
I wanted this scene to look very dramatic, therefore I used a low light source coming from above the actors shining down on them. The downside was that it made it difficult for the actors to stay in focus and in lighting range. This was one of my first film school projects. I shot it all handheld with an XL2.

  • Lighting is good, actors were not good, camera movements were shit. And once again like I have told many of these young aspiring film makers. That you need to do different takes. This is all one scene but theres no angles, no tripod shots, nothing!

  • If you would take the time to read the info on the right, this project was supposed to be shot using one take! No cuts, edits, nothing.

  • That's not whiskey my friend, that is COGNAC.

  • I meant "lighting".

  • Well, the writing wasn't exactly 'Godfather". But the lightning was really atmospheric and some of the camera movements look very meaningful to me. Not at all bad for a first film!

  • @lucasjeffreys You should definitely consider it. They do send information out of country. This school is universal. Anyone from outside the country would come to LA to learn film in the heart of Hollywood! :)

Im planning on coming here but for recording school.

  • SAVE YOUR MONEY!!! Don't go. Just buy a camcorder (the Scarlet should be out soon) and shoot movies. You don't need a film school to teach you how to shoot movies. Move to LA, get actors, learn to work with them, make mistakes and learn. If you want to learn how to light then go over to Moll Richardson and take the free classes that they offer. Need more info? PM me.

  • go to their website and get a brochure, im 14 and i am having one sent to me, i dont know if they send outside the u.s. though

  • that short was awsome!

i'm 16 just now and live in Scotland but i want to go to L.A. film school. U got any info on what it's like?

  • The point is this is suppose to be believable and realistic in which it is not believable and very unrealistic. Do a better job next time. Camera and lighting were good but performance wise it sucked.

  • no one cares for your expertise in the mob underworld. it's a film school project and its supposed to be focused on the camerawork and directing. you're ridiculous

  • wait, after highschool i want to go here, but whats the problem that u were talkin about?
