  • Never heard of this guy before yesterday. I went downstairs at NAMM and he was at the Blackbird booth. I was rooted to the spot. I understand from a friend of a friend that he was a student of Ted Greene's which would certainly explain the earlier comment about his chord improv.

  • @GuitarSlinger2112 Thanks for your kind words. Unfortunately, I never met Ted Greene, although I certainly admired his talent. ~ JL

  • Went to high school with him in Torrance. In a school full of fairly brilliant guitarists, he was the standout -- streets ahead of everyone else. One of his jam sessions was one of the two times in my life where I had to leave because the music was so good I couldn't stand it - was in danger of filament burnout.

  • Since first seeing Jeff live in '91, I've maintained that he's one of the greatest living musicians on earth. No one that I know (certainly not a guitarist) can improvise like Jeff, esp. his chord/melody stuff. Plus he plays with such ease it always looks like he's just sitting back enjoying the music with the rest of the crowd. See him live at all costs. (Imagine how you'd feel if you missed a chance to see Chopin or Beethoven perform! Well, to me, seeing Jeff is akin to that. Simply the best.)

  • Proving once again that if you want the Ferrari to go fast; you can't start in top gear.

Jeff is the best guitarist/musician, and that's a fact.

Check his other videos on YouTube. The guy is on auto pilot.

    Awesome fluidity.

  • Great lesson!

  • Very cool. Thanks Geoff.

    More solo guitar please!
