Dillin Hoox was born in Mahabad, Kurdistan (Iran), in 1985, in the middle of the horrific Iran-Iraq war, barely avoiding the gas attacks brought on to his people by a then powerful Saddam Hussein. It would take more then 20 years to bring Hussein to justice. Five years into Dillin Hoox's life, with a hostile environment continuing to loom amongst them, Hoox's family immigrated to Canada. After moving from coast to coast, living in both Halifax and Vancouver, Hoox finally settled in the nation's capital city, Ottawa. With so much on his mind it seemed only natural to piece together his emotions with the written word as so many of his family members had done as successful poets back home in Kurdistan.

While only beginning to write rhymes at the age of 15, Hoox studied his craft and developed his skills as an emcee; freestyling with every opportunity he could find. Hoox went on to link up with his business partner in rhyme, Dutchy Bonez. Together, in 2004, they created Landlokt Records.

Grimy, witty, deep and well spoken are excellent ways to describe this young emcee that has done anything but show his audience where his boundaries lie. He continues to push his limits as an artist and spreads the story of his homeland, Kurdistan, with every opportunity available to him.

In recent years, Hoox has started to deliver tracks with more inner thought and emotion; songs that deliver a message and largely focus on the struggles of Kurdistan and the Kurdish people. He speaks of suffering and rejoicing, Kurdish Heroes like Mustafa Barzani and the Peshmergas, and overall, his own personal life and growth. While initially coming up as a "punchline emcee", Hoox has grown into a much more versatile and diverse artist who is aiming to make classic music. Still, you can't deny the lines Hoox packs in from verse to verse.

Hoox has been raising awareness for Kurdistan by explaining the struggle his Kurdish people have endured throughout the years. A song entitled "Home Land" ended up being the 1st version to a series of tracks under the same title.
