This video will seem a little wierd due to the sound difference. The reason is halfway through, I was gettign cold (It was 21F outside)so i got in my preheated car and the windows are a little bit soundproof. When the train ended, I rolled down the window and moved the camera with my hand. Anyway, I have been going through hell just GETTING this crossing in action! This train is Guilford number 507 (but sounds similar to 509), and it sounds great. This train was Fast and a Behemouth! Enjoy this night video! This crossing is between Court and Hampshire St. This crossing has WRRS Lantern Gate lights, which are extremely rare to find, and 3 out of the 6 in the Heart of Auburn have these lights, and there are 2 in lewiston that have them too.

  • The trouble you went through to capture this was well worth it. I LOVE train crossings in action, especially at night! Great job!

  • yeah plus I got Guilford MEC 507, which has a wonderful K3L. Halfway through I was celebrating finally GETTING this crossing. I would get there, train is coming, then it stops at High St, OR it is moving slowly and I go to check on it, then Elm St is activating and when I get back to library, the train is beginning to cross. Any of the MEC 500 Series sound very good at night, in the winter. Thanks for the comment!

  • What state is this in?

  • I actually have 3 Lantern Gate lights in my posession now. I got them on ebay for like $55. All of them work are are bright as hell. Just a little reminder of Maine now.

  • They must still be around. The Chicago Transit Authority(CTA)still have these vintage Lanterns in stock and are using them on current LED Flasher/E-Bell equipped crossings.

  • They are still on the WCH website.

  • Anyone know what kind of horn that is?

  • Weirdest horn I have ever heard in my life. Awesome video!!! :)

  • people w/ bells on their gates are lucky, you don't get many of those in Indiana, or at least where i live in Indiana, there all silent.
