The famous guitar teacher, Aaron Shearer, once said, "...during every minute of practice you're acquiring habits that will determine how well you will eventually play. If you're confused and making errors as you practice, confusion and error will unavoidably become part of your playing." Well let me say this, its impossible to avoid error completely, but we can work toward the goal of perfection, and we can do this most efficiently by using a process called visualization. So how do we start? We will begin by visualizing a B major scale on the second string.

Let me first explain how I visualize shifts. When I say one fret shift, I mean one fret away from the last finger put down. With major scales on one string, we only have one and two fret shifts.

Im going to use Shearers fingering for the 2nd string B major scale, but you might want to use another fingering the principle is the same in any case.

  • I've followed through on your 12 videos and appreciate your teaching methods. I'm probably around your age and recently "rediscovered" my guitar due to a mobility disability that prevents me from getting "real" lessons. I wish there were more! I am a visual learner. I went to your cited website hoping to hear more, but it is gone. :( Thanks for all the lessons.

  • Thanks for the compliment.

  • There may be more. I might put book 1 of my five book method online and play the 2nd parts and comment on the duets.

  • please use tripod next time

  • There won't be a next time. that's the last guitar video.

  • I was going to Rate this 5 Star, your videos are great and you put in a lot of effort but then I read your reply to the tripod comment.

You should be mature enough to know better, If you post a video to the world people will comment. The Poster said please hand had a valid point. Why did you spit your passifier out and react badly? Don't be so fragile.

I am still going to vote 5 stars because your stuff is great but please count to 10 and chill out :)

  • This seems pretty confusing, but then again I play electric, and I don't get guitar lessons very often.

  • Thank you so much! I've been taking guitar lessons for a year from a teacher who has a Doctrine in Classical guitar and jazz, but ran out of money temporally for the lessons. Your videos are keeping me sharp. Thank you. Your very generous and talented.

  • goot stuff!! More please!!!

  • cool method very usefull thanks for this video, I hope you change your mind about making videos, they're really good.
